Explore the Surroundings
Stanton is a welcoming little village nestled in West Suffolk, about nine miles northeast of Bury St Edmunds, right off the A143 heading toward Diss. It’s the kind of place where life moves at a gentler pace, surrounded by rolling fields and big skies. The village has a few handy shops for day-to-day bits, and just a short stroll from Bromptons Farm, you’ll find the Cock Inn—a proper country pub where locals gather for a pint, a bite to eat, and a good catch-up.

History’s never far away here. Just outside the village lies the old RAF Shepherds Grove airfield, once home to American forces during World War II. And over to the east, you’ll spot one of Stanton’s most iconic sights—the beautifully restored windmill at Upthorpe Farm, standing tall against the landscape.

Whether you're walking the quiet lanes, soaking in the countryside views, or chatting with friendly locals, Stanton feels like a place where you can truly slow down and feel at home. Fittingly, its name means “a homestead on stony ground”—a nod to its deep roots and enduring charm.
